Why compost at your next event?

While food waste from events is understudied, experience tells us that events are a huge source of food waste. Consider your last Thanksgiving dinner or office party - did all of the food get eaten? Think back to the last wedding you attended - do you think the catering kitchen was empty at the end of the night? Likely at least some of this food ended up in the trash can, on its way to the landfill.

It is essentially impossible to prepare the exact right amount of food and so, with the best intentions, hosts and caterers often prepare extra to ensure no one goes hungry. But, unfortunately, that often leads to over-catering and thus wasted food. While we encourage you to eat leftovers and share food as you are able, we are here to intercept the food that would inevitably be headed for the trash. Let us take those scraps and recycle them into nutrient-rich compost!

Composting isn’t only a win for your conscience but also for our environment and our WNY soils where your composted scraps will start the process all over again.

Why compost? 1. To reduce food waste
2. To enhance your soil
3. To grow your community
4. To protect the climate

Testimonials

Farmer Pirates is the reason why we were able to host our first Zero-Waste Sustainable Business Summit. The service Farmer Pirates offers is extremely important for organizations like ours that center around sustainable practices. Working with the Farmer Pirates team, we were able to divert food scraps from a day-long event with 200+ guests away from landfills. We will absolutely be working with them again in the future!
