Greater Buffalo's Premier Organics Recycling and Compost Professionals
School Composting Service
Farmer Pirates School Composting Service is aimed to be simple and flexible. Whether you are a public, charter or private school, large, small or somewhere in between we can help create a school composting program specific to your goals and needs. Through our information guides, training sessions, and all school assemblies, Farmer Pirates is there to provide education, offer support and answer questions along the way.
Why Compost at School?
Did you know that much of the waste leaving the school cafeteria is not in fact garbage, but a highly reusable resource? The World Wildlife Fund estimates over 500,000 tons (one billion pounds) of food waste every year comes from schools. When your school chooses to compost its leftover food scraps, these organic materials are kept out of landfills and instead, using a natural process, are turned into a natural fertilizer that can be used to revitalize soil and grow even more nutritious food. School composting contributes to a cleaner, healthier community!

Where it Goes
The Farmer Pirates operate a compost site on Buffalo’s East Side. We manage and maintain the compost piles by mixing your food waste with different carbon sources to create rich “finished” compost to be used on local urban farms, gardens, and schools.
Areas we Serve
Buffalo, Kenmore, Amherst, Williamsville, Tonawanda, Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Lockport, Depew, West Seneca, East Aurora, and Hamburg. We are constantly expanding. Contact us to see if we can service you if not listed above.
